We continue our way to Hyden. The distances between the “attractions” in West Australia are way to long. Most of the day we spend driving. The roads are endless and straight to the horizon. sometime you can drive over 100km without a curve. I attached my camera with gaffa tape to the van. Looking forward to capture the footage when I got some free space on my hard disk.
The first stop after a short coffee break is at Shark Bay. It’s a huge cliff on the West coast from which you can see Sting Rays, Sharks and Turtles with your bare eye – still a Binoculars help a lot.
We drove a short 105 km way off our course to the world’s third largest monolith “Korkerbin Rock”.
There were some signs of a walking track but it looked like no one has walk there for ages. The track was hardly visible, just some colored cord around some trees. There were other things amount the trees too. Heaps and heaps of Spiders. We used some sticks to get rid of the spiderwebs to walk the path. After about an hour slow walking and trying to get bitten we got on the Rock. The view was nice but not spectacular. so we decide to find a way back. It was slowly getting dark and we didn’t want to get stuck in this wilderness without a light. It’s hot as hell and very dry here. Extreme fire danger. We continue the endless dirt roads to Hyden. The Hyden Wave Rock is a amazing 15meter high concave wall of granite. It’s unusually high and long, carved by wind and rain. It looks like there must have been some hail a day ago cause we found snow in the shadow on the food of the rock. The temperature around is around 30° C!. There’s also a rock formation that looks like a Hippo Jaw. It’s huge!
From Hyden we drive south to Albany. There’s a National Park close to the City with a splendid view. There is a Treetop walk in Denmark Australia that we take part. After this Attraction we continue our trip and drive to Margaret River to visit a cave but they are already closed when we arrive. So we got some time that we spend on the Beach. While I go for a swim in the ocean, Andreas films the Sunset and takes Pictures of the surfers.
