2008-12-31 X-Mas and New Year in Sydney

Merry Christmas and a happy new year 2009  to You. Thanks for reading my blog.
After Perth I am in Melbourne for some days. I fly to Sydney over Christmas and New Year.
It’s great that I meet Igor and Silvia again. Also Rob, Tom, Tron, Candice and Jus. And what a coincidence I share a room with Toby that I meet in Brisbane before. I spend lot’s of time on the beach with old and new friends, who I meet during my travel.
I also meet Burkhard just for a few hours again. He’s preparing to fly back to Germany. He made some money working and is now pissed that the Euro is so expensive compared to the Australian dollar. So he decided to invest in Products and bring them home  instead of the cash.
Paul and me did the 7km Cliff walk from Whatson Bay to Bondi Bay and the 12km Beach walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach in easy 8 hours. There are heaps of beaches along the way and we spend some time at each of them.
Check out the map on the bottom of the post. The green line is partly ferry from the circular key to
Whatson Bay and partly the beach walk we did. We passes awesome cliffs with interesting Architecture on top. Guess it’s a part of Sydney where very wealthy people settle. There’s also a old and amazing graveyard with sea view.
Verena, Catherine, Igor and me had happy Christmas Party at apartment with
some guys from Columbia and Chile.
The Time between Christmas and New Year was full of Party’s. Hanging around with the people from the hostel having a great time.
New Years eve started early in the morning. Nils had spot a nice place where the view to the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House is great and where you are allowed to bring your own alcohol. To get a place there we startet at 10am. I walked the whole way and arrived three hours later. Still 11 hours to go until the fireworks. These Hours were filled with chatting, drinking and laughing.
The firework itself was described as fantastic brilliant and so on. Personally being spoiled by fireworks in Koblenz it was kind of lame. And we were quite far away. Public fireworks are a firehazard and not legal in Australia. That’s why the official one shall be even bigger. Guess I must have missed that part. Anyway the time in the Sun with all the great people in Sydney was brilliant. The Party continued into the late night. Some people came back to the hostel at 9am. That was a 23h party!
